XRP at $1.30 aims resistance as BTC drops below $80K amid market weakness
Despite general market weakness, several altcoins have managed to register gains over the preceding day, including ZEC, HYPE, and XRP.
Bitcoin experienced a decline, slipping beneath the $80,000 mark late last night and maintaining that position. This occurs just ahead of the next FOMC meeting.
Ripple's native token, XRP, is currently trading at $1.30, reaching a crucial resistance level. This is attributed to recent major news from Ripple regarding its national bank trust.
Ethereum has also seen a modest decrease, falling closer to $2,300. Meanwhile, SOL has dropped below $100, and TRX is trading under $0.33.
Other assets show varied performance: QNT continues its strong ascent started Monday, having risen over 7% again and appearing to regain the $200 level. XMR has approached $600 following a 2% increase. ZEC is up more than 3%, situated near $1,250. HYPE has seen a similar percentage gain, trading at $78.
Conversely, BTW and RAIN have experienced significant drops, plunging over 12%. BTW is now struggling at $1.40, while RAIN has fallen to $0.072. BCH, XMR, HYPE, and ZEC have posted some positive movement.
The overall cryptocurrency market capitalization has decreased by 0.4% in the last 24 hours, settling at $2.670 trillion according to CMC.
The recent volatility in major assets like Bitcoin, which tumbled to a 5-week low of $79,100 after rejecting $85,000, suggests ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty influencing decentralized finance protocols and Layer 2 scaling solutions.
Why it matters
The divergence between XRP's upward momentum and Bitcoin's pullback highlights varied asset performance despite broader market weakness. Monitoring these movements is key to understanding current sentiment as the market approaches the FOMC meeting. This signals potential shifts in capital flow across different crypto protocols.
