FBI confirms North Korea role in $6 billion Binance hack, asks DeFi community to block BTC, ETH, SOL addresses
The FBI has confirmed North Korea's involvement in a $6 billion hack targeting Binance.
In its official notification, the agency requested that the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) community block specific Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL) addresses.
Chainalysis noted that despite the FBI listing hundreds of addresses, the Binance perpetrators have already utilized "thousands addresses."
Furthermore, Chainalysis anticipates that this count of exploited addresses will continue to increase.
This development underscores the persistent threat landscape facing major centralized exchanges and the wider digital asset ecosystem.
The FBI's action signals a direct governmental focus on tracing and mitigating illicit flows originating from state-sponsored actors within the crypto space.
