Securitize adds Stellar blockchain to supported list for institutional tokenization

Securitize, a platform that converts real-world assets like debt and equity into tokens tradable like cryptocurrencies, has incorporated Stellar into its supported blockchain list.

This addition complements the blockchains the firm already supports, which include Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche.

At Meridian 2026, the annual conference hosted by the Stellar Development Foundation in Lisbon, the announcement was made.

The firms noted that Stellar is recognized for its speed and scalability, allowing decentralized assets to be configured for compliance with sanctions, clawbacks, and know-your-customer (KYC) protocols.

Institutional participation is already evident, as Franklin Templeton operates a tokenized money market fund on Stellar, and MoneyGram utilizes the network for daily money transfers.

Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo stated, "The Stellar network has built the fourth-largest ecosystem for tokenized real-world assets, which speaks to the strength of its network and the growing institutional demand for tokenization."

Tokenization, the process of placing assets onto a blockchain, has attracted significant attention recently. Many entities are now announcing or planning to offer shares, bonds, and commodities that can trade around the clock with minimal geographic constraints.

Stellar, which was established in 2017, made its public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in July.

This expansion of supported infrastructure by Securitize underscores the increasing operational maturity of various decentralized ledger technologies in facilitating institutional adoption of tokenized assets.

Why it matters

The expansion of institutional tokenization platforms to include Stellar signals growing enterprise adoption beyond established L1s like Ethereum. This development highlights the industry's focus on integrating regulatory compliance directly into decentralized asset structures. Readers should watch how these different L1 capabilities affect the standardization of tokenized real-world assets.
