Ripple USD hits $200M weekly DeFi volume, outpaces USDG amid NYDFS compliance

The asset has established an absolute monopoly within the XRP Ledger (XRPL) registry, accounting for over 92% of all stablecoin turnover, according to recent data.

Institutional stablecoin Ripple USD (RLUSD) has secured the top position on the worldwide chart for short-term expansion within the decentralized finance sector. Over the preceding seven days, its trading volume on decentralized exchanges (DEX) climbed by $199.4 million. This substantial influx of liquidity stems directly from the introduction of pre-built business-to-business infrastructure designed for significant capital deployment.

The token's growth significantly surpassed that of its nearest competitor, the USDG token, which recorded only a weekly inflow of $97.6 million, according to the analytics platform Token Terminal, meaning RLUSD outperformed it by more than double.

While the retail segment pursues speculative profits, institutional participants are making calculated investments based on stringent regulatory adherence, favoring Ripple's digital dollar which is regulated by the New York regulator NYDFS and is entirely backed by U.S. government bonds.

New transactional activity across decentralized venues was facilitated through a sequence of technical integrations; the token was immediately incorporated into specialized Uniswap V4 pools for large-scale arbitrage opportunities, connected via the Squid protocol’s cross-chain pathways to one hundred other blockchains, and subsequently launched on the Swiss platform Arf. Furthermore, this final integration enabled authorized payment entities to utilize RLUSD for immediate cross-border settlements, thereby resolving a persistent challenge in fintech: the protracted immobilization of live funds within bank correspondent accounts.

Fresh metrics from the rwa.xyz analytics dashboard present a peculiar structural contradiction in this environment. Despite having a net capitalization of $2,401,976,892, the new token currently occupies the eighth spot in the global stablecoin ranking and is closely challenging a comparable offering from PayPal, which holds a valuation of $3.01 billion. Considering the total global market size of $289.24 billion, Ripple’s market share remains a modest one percent, overshadowed by the substantial holdings of Tether ($181.5 billion) and Circle ($69.7 billion).

This weekly spike in trading volumes clearly demonstrates how a specialized instrument, when paired with the appropriate legal framework, can function as the primary conduit connecting traditional banking systems with decentralized marketplaces.

This development underscores the growing operational convergence between regulated financial instruments and decentralized protocols, indicating that institutional adoption is prioritizing compliance structures within the DeFi landscape.

Why it matters

This surge highlights how compliance-focused, institutional stablecoins are bridging traditional finance with DeFi infrastructure. The integration into Uniswap V4 pools and cross-chain routes signals a deepening technical convergence between regulated entities and decentralized protocols.
