Predict.fun users report $260K loss, 19 wallets drained to Tornado Cash

Investigators have reportedly traced approximately 105 ETH, valued at $260,000, drained from at least 19 wallets associated with the prediction market platform Predict.fun.

These suspected stolen funds were traced via the Ethereum network to the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash, according to on-chain investigator Naeven.

The initial alarm was raised after a crypto user named dethective disclosed losing about $5,000, expressing worry that other users on Predict.fun faced similar unauthorized withdrawals.

Detective noted, "I think there's something wrong going on with Predictfun and I am not the only victim." This disclosure included a wallet address, 0x8b001D7378DBc19C1c62E39c0fC9FFAD84182fBa, which received the misappropriated funds.

Naeven's subsequent analysis indicated the issue was broader than the initial complaint, detailing a flow where funds moved through intermediary addresses before reaching Tornado Cash. The investigator advised users retaining assets on Predict.fun to withdraw them immediately.

Predict.fun operates on BNB Smart Chain, utilizing USDT collateral for market positions managed by conditional token contracts.

The reported movement of assets to Tornado Cash aligns with recent patterns involving attackers utilizing mixing protocols to obscure stolen cryptocurrency movements.

This pattern is consistent with prior events, such as the Drift Protocol exploit, where roughly $109 million in Ether was moved to Tornado Cash over two days.

These developments underscore ongoing risks within DeFi protocols, particularly concerning asset security and the pathways used by malicious actors to obscure fund movements across different blockchain layers.
