Hyperliquid HYPE rebounds from $75, watches $83 resistance for recovery
Hyperliquid's HYPE token increased by 1.9% over the last 24 hours, following a bounce from support levels near $75.
For a recovery narrative to gain strength, the token must surpass the $83 resistance level. Should HYPE drop beneath $75, the 200-day EMA, situated near $67.50, could become a point of exposure.
The token's recent rebound suggests that buyers are again reacting near a price point that previously supported HYPE in mid-September before it reached a record high. However, confirmation of a sustained recovery has not yet materialized.
Trading activity within Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets has shown relative resilience, even amidst a wider decrease in open interest. Open interest across the Hyperliquid blockchain decreased by about 11% from its peak on September 13, which was $9.1 billion.
Despite this, the decline in HIP-3 markets has been less pronounced in the recent weeks, according to the analysis provided. HIP-3 facilitates markets for assets beyond cryptocurrencies, such as commodities and stocks.
Weekly trading volume rose from $12.4 billion for the week ending October 4 to $19.6 billion in the subsequent week, marking an approximate 58% increase, as noted by Hyperliquid Stats. This growth suggests stronger activity in those specific markets, though volume alone does not define the demand placed on HYPE.
Market participants must contend with potential volatility surrounding the Federal Reserve's forthcoming interest rate decision and subsequent guidance. CME FedWatch data indicates a 9% probability of a rate hike at the meeting, and over three-quarters of surveyed analysts anticipate an increase in December.
The current technical indicators show the Relative Strength Index at 39, positioning it below the neutral 50 level, which implies sellers currently maintain the advantage. A move above $83 is viewed as improving the short-term technical outlook, potentially bringing $89 into focus as a near-term target.
This technical analysis underscores the immediate importance of key price thresholds for market participants assessing the trajectory of DeFi activity. The interplay between token-specific momentum and broader macroeconomic signals, such as those from the Federal Reserve, dictates the current risk appetite within the ecosystem.
Why it matters
This price action highlights immediate technical hurdles for HYPE, which is relevant to assessing the stability of DeFi protocols. Traders are closely watching the $83 resistance level as a key indicator for potential short-term recovery momentum. Future movements are also tied to broader macroeconomic signals, such as the Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate decisions.
