This financing round was supported by several entities, including Paper Ventures, dao5, ArkStream Capital, X Ventures, MH Ventures, and Proof of Talk. Notably, Paper Ventures and dao5 secured the largest allocations, although there was no formally designated lead investor.

Cancore aims to link assets residing on the Canton network with liquidity available on external public blockchains. This expansion effort seeks to simplify the cross-network trading of assets, addressing a significant hurdle within tokenized finance.

Since launching on Canton’s main network in April, the platform has facilitated substantial activity. As of October 1, Cancore reported processing over $53.2 million in cumulative trading volume across more than 84,000 trades, generating over $538,000 in protocol revenue.

The platform employs atomic settlement for transactions between Canton and supported public blockchains, ensuring that exchanges either complete fully or are entirely refunded. Furthermore, users maintain control over their private keys via Cancore’s self-custody wallet.

The capital infusion will facilitate the addition of new blockchain connections and trading liquidity. Development efforts will also focus on enhancing security systems and building automated trading tools, including enabling users to deploy AI agents for strategy execution.

Institutional participants view Cancore's development as critical infrastructure. Danish Chaudhry of Paper Ventures stated, "In traditional markets, much of the value sits with the infrastructure that moves capital between venues: clearing, settlement, prime brokerage."

This focus on bridging Canton with public-chain liquidity aligns with a broader trend toward creating standardized execution layers for tokenized capital across disparate blockchain ecosystems.

Why it matters

This funding signals continued institutional interest in bridging the liquidity gap between specialized networks like Canton and broader public blockchains. The focus on AI agents and cross-chain settlement addresses core challenges in decentralized finance infrastructure. Readers should watch how this expansion impacts the interoperability and utility of assets on Canton.
