This latest acquisition contributes to a growing position Ark has established in the USDC stablecoin issuer since the company's initial public offering.
The firm has made several purchases of Circle stock throughout 2026, including a $5.5M purchase in May and another $17.3M purchase in August.
Separately, Ark purchased 65,615 Circle shares, valued near $5.2 million, following a session where Circle stock declined by 7.1%, dropping to approximately $79.84.
After that specific transaction, Circle represented about 4.3% of ARKW's total holdings, valuing roughly $67.8 million.
These Circle shares, traded on the NYSE under the ticker CRCL, have recently traded within the $80 to $82 range.
The buying activity by Ark has been concurrent with other actions; around the time of the 65,615-share purchase, the firm reduced its ARKB Bitcoin ETF by about $15.9 million.
This reduction occurred while Bitcoin faced challenges maintaining the $80,000 level.
Stablecoins function as digital tokens pegged to a conventional currency, utilized by traders for moving assets between exchanges, parking funds without leaving crypto entirely, and settling payments rapidly.
Circle's business benefits from increased USDC circulation, irrespective of Bitcoin's weekly price movement.
Circle Internet Group became public on June 5, 2025, and has reported robust growth in USDC circulation. The company is also pursuing a national trust bank charter, which could bolster its credibility and operational support.
For market participants observing institutional capital flows, the sequence of purchases across May, August, and later suggests Ark views Circle as a fundamental holding, rather than a short-term trade.
The wider trend indicates an increasing institutional preference for stable, regulated digital assets, as evidenced by Ark's strategic focus on stablecoins over Bitcoin.
